Every year, on the first Sunday of August, there is a large flea market in the village of Ogy , spread over the two halves of the village (the main road runs straight through them).
It's only a half-hour drive from Ophasselt, and we try to get there every year. In recent years, we've been on vacation around that time, but this year we left early, so we were back in time to visit Ogy again. 😁 A little French is helpful; we're in Wallonia, after all, but there are plenty of Flemish/Dutch-speaking businesses too...
The organization is truly fantastic, and all traffic to and from the prepared parking spaces is well-organized. Arriving on time is essential, not only for the first bargains but also to have some peace and quiet, as the morning progresses, it gets incredibly busy.
As bad as the weather was on Saturday, it was just as beautiful on the Sunday of the market!
Every year is different, but it's almost impossible to come home empty-handed given the sheer number of exhibitors and the variety of offerings. It's also a fantastic market to attend just for the fun of it. We were certainly able to go home satisfied with a few nice things for ourselves and, of course, for our (online) shop.
